Died: 13 October 1974

Edgar Charles "Sam" Rice was a Hall-of-Fame baseball player who compiled a lifetime batting average of .322. Rice played for the Washington Senators from 1915-1933, and for the Cleveland Indians in 1934. In 1925, he hit 182 singles and had a batting average of .350. Rice's family home was destroyed during the Morocco tornado of 21 April 1912. Rice was away at the time, but most of his family was killed.
