Jackson began a singing career as a child, and he was soon the featured performer in the Jackson 5, a group made up of several of his brothers. The Jackson 5 were a very successful group, scoring numerous Top 40 hits, but Michael's subsequent solo career eclipsed even that achievement, and he went on to sell tens of millions of records. In recent years his commercial success has waned, seemingly in conjunction with increasingly unusual behavior. Aspects of the latter have resulted in a variety of legal actions, not all favorable to the singer.
