Ray Ewry won ten gold medals in four Olympic Games. He specialized in the now-discontinued standing jump events - the standing high jump (Gold medals in 1900, 1904, 1906, and 1908), standing long jump (same years) and standing triple jump (1900 and 1904). His remarkable ability earned him the knickname "The Human Frog", and his world record for the standing long jump, 3.47 meters, stood until until the sport was discontinued in 1938.
