Outdoors: Wabash Heritage Trail

Trail Click to Enlarge Introduction Wabash Heritage Trail is a 12 mile footpath extending from the Tippecanoe Battlefield at Battle Ground nearly to Fort Ouiatenon. Along the way, it shadows Burnett's Creek before joining and following the Wabash River. The northern portion along Burnett's Creek is my favorite; the segments closer to and downstream of Lafayette tend to be noisier and more developed. I recommend starting at the Wah-ba-shik-a Nature Center, adjacent to the Battlefield; I generally turn around on reaching the southern tip of Heron Island, not far beyond the Davis Ferry bridge and County Park.
