Introduction
Tipsaw Lake is a 130+ acre impoundment with associated facilities.
Trails
A six mile trail, blazed with dark yellow diamonds, circles the lake, beginning at a trailhead just inside the gate. I suggest heading southwest to start with; that allows you to get the developed areas out of the way first.
After passing the campground, boat ramp, beach, etc. you’ll cross the dam – use some DEET, as I picked up the worst case of chiggers in my life here - and move into somewhat more remote territory.
Though there’s a bit of road walking, the trail shares part of its tread with the transcontinental American Discovery Trail. This is my favorite part of the hike – remote and pleasant, through gently rolling woods.
Facilities
Campground with showers and water.
