Introduction
Robb Hidden Canyon Nature Preserve combines a large meadow and a wooded ravine.
Trails
A mown meadow trail affords glimpses of Ball Lake between the houses and trees that hug its shoreline, then explores the preserve’s eponymous “canyon”.
In summer, the meadow teems with red-winged blackbirds that will rise to scold and harass you as you pass by. To reach the canyon, continue bearing right.
The path eventually enters the woods, and then turns left, paralleling the ravine before descending a set of stairs and crossing the stream at the bottom.
Expect to see tulip poplar, maple, and beech trees; in spring you'll encounter wildflowers; later months will bring poison ivy and stinging nettle.
The trail on the other side of the canyon is a loop that will eventually bring you back to the top of stairs by the ravine.
Facilities
None.
