Outdoors: Prairie Border

Prairie Border Click to Enlarge Introduction Prairie Border is a fairly typical oak savanna preserve adjacent to the Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area. Wildflowers typical of prairies, including blazing star, partridge pea, and yarrow, appear here and there. The Nature Conservancy has worked hard to restore this property, repeatedly burning it to thin the understory and promote native fire-adapted species. Trails There is no established trail, though the dim outline of an old dirt road is visible leading northeast from the access point described below. The sandy track makes its way up to the top of a small hill before petering out in a thick mass of briars. Facilities None, though adjacent Jasper-Pulaski has limited facilities.
