Introduction
First named Vinegar Mills State Park, and then Muscatatuck State Park, this property became Indiana’s fourth State Park in 1921. Ownership reverted to the county in 1968. Whenever the weather is nice this is likely to be a busy place; there are large playing fields and organized youth sports teams are major users of the park.
Trails
I recommend stopping at the Vinegar Mill (on the left as you’re driving in) and exploring the trail along the Muscatatuck River, especially in the downstream direction. Impressive rock outcrops line the river here, and the trail can be rather narrow. Other, color-coded trails exist, some of them quite steep.
