Introduction

Luhr County Park comprises seventy-four acres of forest, wetlands, and restored prairie. Prairie restoration efforts are underway in the power line right-of-way - an excellent use for an area where trees would interfere with the lines. This is a pleasant destination, despite considerable disturbance and the recent vintage of the trees.

Trails

Trail maps are available at the Nature Center, just north of the parking lot. There are five trails, none longer than two-thirds of a mile. Trail 2 branches from trail 1 near the nature center and, skirting the northern park boundary, terminates at a boardwalk and observation platform in a wetland area. Trail 4 loops through the western oak-dominated portion of the property, not far from IN 39.

Facilities

Nature Center, restrooms.
