Population: 27,600 (2000 Census) Cities & Towns: Bluffton (county seat, 9,536, 75th largest city in the State); Ossian (2,943), Markle (1,102), Zanesville (602), Uniondale (277), Poneto (240) Named For: William Wells, who was captured by Indians as a child and become the son-in-law of Chief Little Turtle, fighting on the side of the Indians until serving under General "Mad Anthony" Wayne. |
