    Counties: Sullivan County Indiana


Sullivan County is located in western Indiana, bordered on the north by Vigo County, to the northeast by Clay County, to the east by Greene County, to the south by Knox County, and to the west by Illinois.

It has an area of 447 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 21,571 residents.

Sullivan (2000 Census population of 4,617) is both the largest city in Sullivan County and the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Carlisle (2,660), Shelburn (1,268), Farmersburg (1,180), Dugger (955), Hymera (833), and Merom (294).

The county was named for Revolutionary War hero Daniel Sullivan.
