    Counties: Rush County Indiana


Rush County is located in eastern Indiana, bordered on the northwest by Hancock County, to the north by Henry County, to the east by Fayette County, to the southeast by Franklin County, to the south by Decatur County, and to the west by Shelby County.

It has an area of 408 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 18,261.

Rushville (2000 Census population of 5,995) is both the largest city in Rush County and the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Carthage (928) and Glenwood (318).

The county was named for Benjamin Rush, physician.

Notable natives include Rear Admiral George Brown, born 1835 in Rushville.
