Randolph County is located in eastern Indiana, bordered on the north by Jay County, to the east by Ohio, to the south by Wayne County, to the southwest by Henry County, and to the west by Delaware County.
It has an area of 453 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 27,401 residents.
Winchester (2000 Census population of 5,037) is both the largest city in Randolph County and the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Union City (3,622), Farmland (1,456), Parker City (1,416), Lynn (1,143), and Ridgeville (843).
Notable natives include director Robert Wise (West Side Story, The Sound of Music, The Andromeda Strain), Chemistry Nobel Laureate Wendell Stanley, James Goodrich, 29th Governor of Indiana, and cult leader Jim Jones.
