    Counties: Orange County Indiana


Orange County is located in southern Indiana, bordered on the north by Lawrence County, to the east by Washington County, to the south by Crawford County, and to the west by Dubois and Martin counties.

It has an area of 400 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 19,306 residents.

Paoli (2000 Census population of 3,844) is both the largest city in Orange County and the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Orleans (2,273), French Lick (1,941), and West Baden Springs (618).

The county was named for Prince William IV of Orange and Orange County, North Carolina.

Notable natives include basketball player Larry Bird.
