Martin County is located in southwestern Indiana, bordered on the north by Greene County, to the east by Lawrence and Orange counties, to the south by Dubois County, and to the west by Daviess County.
It has an area of 336 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 10,369 residents.
Loogootee (2000 Census population of 2,741) is the largest city in Martin County; Shoals (802) is the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Crane (203).
The county was named for John P. Martin.
