Madison County is in the east-central part of Indiana. It has a population of 130,669 (1990 Census) and a land area of approximately 452 square miles. Anderson (59,459) is the county seat. Other cities in Madison County include Elwood (9,494), Alexandria (5,709), Chesterfield (2,730), Pendleton (2,309), Lapel (1,742), Frankton (1,736) and Summitville (1,010). The West Fork of the White River cuts the county approximately in half.
