Location: Eastern Indiana, bordered on the northwest by Wells County, to the north by Adams County, to the east by Ohio, to the south by Randolph County, to the southwest by Delaware County, and to the west by Blackford County.

Population: 21,806 (2000 Census)

Cities & Towns: Portland (county seat, 6,437, 94th largest city in the State); Dunkirk (2,646), Redkey (1,427), Pennville (706), Bryant (272), Salamonia (158)

Named For: John Jay, among other accomplishments the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
