Location: Northwestern Indiana, bordered on the northwest by Lake County, on the north by Porter County, to the east by Pulaski and Starke counties, to the southeast by White County, to the south by Benton County, and to the west by Newton County.

Population: 30,043 (2000 Census)

Cities & Towns: Rensselaer (county seat, 5,294, 116th largest city in the State); De Motte (3,234), Remington (1,323), Collegeville (865), Wheatfield (772)

Named For: William Jasper, Revolutionary War hero.
