Hendricks County is located in central Indiana, bordered on the north by Boone County, to the east by Marion County, to the south by Morgan County, to the west by Putnam County, and to the northwest by Montgomery County.
It has an area of 408 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 104,093 residents.
Plainfield (2000 Census population of 18,396) is the largest city in Hendricks County; Danville (6,418) is the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Brownsburg (14,520), Avon (6,248), Pittsboro (1,588), Clayton (693), North Salem (591), Coatesville (516), Amo (414), Lizton (372), and Stilesville (261).
The county was named for William Hendricks, third Governor of Indiana.
Notable natives include actor Forrest Tucker.
