    Counties: Harrison County Indiana


Harrison County is located in southern Indiana, bordered on the north by Washington County, to the east by Floyd County, to the south by Kentucky, and to the west by Crawford County.

It has an area of 485 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 10,743 residents.

Corydon (2000 Census population of 2,715) is both the largest city in Harrison County and the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Palmyra (633), Lanesville (614), Elizabeth (137), Crandall (131), Mauckport (83), New Middletown (77), Laconia (29), and New Amsterdam (1).

The county was named for William Henry Harrison, first Governor of the Indiana Territory, hero of the Battle of Tippecanoe, and later President of the United States.
