    Counties: Fountain County Indiana


Fountain County is located in western Indiana, bordered on the north by Warren County, to the northeast by Tippecanoe County, to the east by Montgomery County, to the south by Parke County, and to the west by Vermillion and Warren counties.

It has an area of 396 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 17,954 residents.

Attica (2000 Census population of 3,491) is the largest city in Fountain County; Covington (2,565) is the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Veedersburg (2,299), Kingman (538), Hillsboro (489), Mellott (207), and Wallace (100).

The county was named for Major James Fountain.
