Fayette County is located in eastern Indiana, bordered on the northwest by Henry County, to the north by Wayne County, to the east by Union County, to the south by Franklin County, and to the west by Rush County.
It has an area of 215 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 25,588 residents.
Connersville (2000 Census population of 15,411) is both the largest city in Fayette County and the County Seat.
The county was named for the Marquis de Lafayette.
