Delaware County is located in eastern Indiana, bordered on the north by Blackford County, to the northeast by Jay County, to the east by Randolph County, to the south by Henry County, to the west by Madison County, and to the north-northwest by Grant County.
It has an area of 393 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 118,769 residents.
Muncie (2000 Census population of 67,430) is both the largest city in Delaware County and the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Yorktown (4,785), Albany (2,368), Daleville (1,658), Eaton (1,603), Gaston (1,010), and Selma (880).
The county was named for the Delaware tribe of Native Americans.
