Location: Eastern Indiana, bordered on the north by Blackford County, to the northeast by Jay County, to the east by Randolph County, to the south by Henry County, to the west by Madison County, and to the north-northwest by Grant County.

Cities & Towns: Muncie (2000 population = 67,430) is the county seat and largest city. Other cities and towns include Yorktown (4,785), Albany (2,368), Daleville (1,658), Eaton (1,603), Gaston (1,010), and Selma (880).

Named For: The Delaware Indian Tribe.

Topography: Generally level to gently rolling. The North Fork of the White River and its tributaries drain most of the county.
