Crawford County is located in southern Indiana, bordered on the north by Orange County, to the northeast by Washington County, to the east by Harrison County, to the south by Kentucky, to the southwest by Perry County, and to the west by Dubois County.
It has an area of 306 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 10,743 residents.
Milltown (2000 Census population of 932) is the largest city in Crawford County; English (673) is the County Seat.
Other cities and towns include Marengo (829), Leavenworth (353), Sulphur Springs (346), and Alton (53).
The origin of the county's name is unknown.
