    Counties: Clark County Indiana


Clark County is located in southern Indiana, bordered on the north by Scott County, to the east by Jefferson County, to the south by Kentucky, to the southwest by Floyd County, and to the west by Washington County.

It has an area of 375 square miles and during the 2000 Census had 96,472 residents.

Jeffersonville (2000 Census population of 27,362) is both the largest city in Clark County and the County Seat.

Other cities and towns include Clarksville (21,400), Sellersburg (6,071), Charlestown (5,993), Henryville (1,545), Borden (818), Utica (591), New Washington (547), and Memphis (400).

The county was named for Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark.

Notable natives include fried chicken entrepreneur Harlan "Colonel" Sanders, who was born in Henryville, 1890.
