Location: Northwestern Indiana, bordered on the north by Jasper and Newton counties, to the east by White County, to the southeast by Tippecanoe County, to the south by Warren County, and to the west by Illinois.

Named For: Thomas Hart Benton, of Missouri.

Topography: Benton County is made up mainly of nearly level and gently sloping ground moraines. Scattered areas of more strongly sloping end moraines are throughout the county.
