Cities: Monticello Monticello Monticello (2000 population = 5,723) is the largest city in White County. The site on which it sits was chosen as the County Seat on 5 September 1834, and the town was laid out on 3 November 1834, with lots being sold at auction on 7 November 1834. The city is served by State Road 39 and US Highways 24 and 421, and lies on the western bank of the Tippecanoe River. It is also at the junction of two railroad lines. Nearby attractions include Lake Freeman, Lake Shafer, and Indiana Beach. |
