Battle Ground

Battle Ground (2000 population = 1,323) is located in northeastern Tippecanoe County, along Burnett Creek and about a mile from the Wabash River. The town is named after the Tippecanoe Battleground, which is on the southern edge of town. The first post office was established in 1835, though more than twenty years would pass before the town was platted. Once a small agricultural center with its own grain elevator, the town is now primarily a bedroom community for nearby Lafayette and West Lafayette. Attractions in the vicinity include the Tippecanoe Battlefield National Historic Landmark, Prophetstown State Park, Wolf Park, and the Wabash Heritage Trail.
