Cities: Angola Angola Angola (2000 Population = 7,344, 87th largest city in the State) is the county seat of Steuben County, in the northeastern corner of Indiana. The city is named for a city in New York State. A post office opened in the town in 1838. Light manufacturing and tourism are important in the local economy; Pokagon State Park is just west of town. The photo is of the Steuben County Courthouse, located on the southeast corner of the circle in downtown Angola. The Courthouse was built in 1867-1868.
